[ Tourist Visitor Visas ]

If you do not hold a passport from an ETA eligible country, and you wish to visit Australia for tourism, you will need to apply for a visitor visa at the Visa Office of the Australian Consulate-General.

Processing Time

Up to 10 working days - We urge you to lodge your application well in advance of your intended travel.

To make an application for a visitor visa you will need to provide the following documentation:

	A completed form 48R; see: Application to visit Australia for tourism (Form 48R) (pdf)
	The visa application charge; see: Immigration Charges (fees)
	If you are employed, a letter from your employer stating your position, length of employment, salary and dates of leave granted;
	Further evidence of your employment such as taxation return documents or pay slips;***
	Evidence of your funds, such as a recent bank statement;***
	Your travel itinerary;***
	Your valid passport with evidence of your residence status in Hong Kong;
	Your Hong Kong ID card;***
	One passport sized photograph;
	If a child under the age of 18 will be travelling without both parents, a letter from the non-travelling parent/s or legal guardian/s giving consent for the child to travel;
	If you are 75 years of age or over, you will need to attend a Panel Doctor for an assessment of whether you are fit to travel to Australia. You will also need to provide evidence of health insurance cover for the full duration of your intended stay in Australia.
	If you are applying for a long stay visitor visa (a stay of more than 3 months), you may be required to undertake a medical examination or a chest x-ray.

*** Bring originals plus one photocopy to include with your application.
