If you intend to undertake full-time study in Australia, you will need to apply for a student visa.

Many Hong Kong applicants are eligible to apply for their student visas over the internet.

Online student applications from overseas students are processed at our Perth, Australia office, and progress should be checked online. Click the link below to check the progress of your online student application:

The service standard for fully complete online applications from overseas students at assessment level 1 is three weeks. If your application was lodged more than three weeks ago, and you have checked the status online using the above link and have confirmed that a decision has not yet been made, please send an email to the following address, and ensure that you include your TRN in the subject line:

If your course starts in less than 3 working days and you have still not heard from the student processing centre in Australia, please contact our office here in Hong Kong and we will make a follow up enquiry on your behalf. Student Visa Living Cost Changes - 1 January 2010

Student visa living costs will increase to AUD$18 000 per year from 1 January 2010.

1 September 2008 Assessment Level Changes

As of 1 September 2008 the Assessment Levels (AL) for student visa applicants from a number of countries in one or more education sectors will change.

For HKSAR passport holders and Macau SAR passport holders all levels of study are now AL1. This means that HKSAR and Macau SAR passport holder student applicants are able to and encouraged to apply via the internet.
