Visas and migration
[ Transit Visas ]
Who needs to apply?
Transit visas are for people who wish to transit Australia for periods of up to 72 hours. If you are transiting Australia for less than 8 hours and you are a citizen of a country which has access to the direct transit arrangements you do not require a visa to transit Australia.
HKSAR and BN(O) passport holders may, as an alternative, obtain an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) instead of a transit visa.
For further information on Transit Visa, see: http://www.immi.gov.au/managing-australias-borders/border-security/transit-visa-req.htm
Note:
Hong Kong Certificate of Identity (HK C of I) and Hong Kong Document of Identity (HK D of I) DO require transit visas.
