Services for Australians

[ Passports: Renewal Form PC7 ]

Australians in Hong Kong can now request and lodge a Passport Renewal Application Form (PC7) at the Australian Consulate-General Hong Kong.

From 13 September 2004, applicants will be able to complete a PC7 on the Passports Australia website http://www.passports.gov.au and provided their printer meets the requirements, print off the PC7 and then bring it to the Consulate-General for lodgement. Applicants may also ask for PC7s to be mailed to them, if their printer does not meet requirements or they do not have access to the Internet. Applicants should telephone the Passport and Consular Services Section at the Consulate-General on 2585 4146 when they will be asked a series of questions to enable a PC7 to be forwarded to them in the mail. Alternatively, applicants will be able to request a form on arrival at the Consulate-General.

The PC7 form streamlines the application process for people who meet renewal criteria. It is a one page form pre-completed electronically using information held by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Australian Citizens should be aware that applications for renewals of Australian Passports can only be completed using form PC7 where:

They provide their most recent Australian Passport which was valid for at least two years,

They hold a passport issued to them as an adult at or over 18 years of age,

Their most recent passport is not lost, stolen or damaged in any way,

Where their current passport has not expired more than 12 months ago,

Two recent passport photographs are supplied with the renewal form and the appropriate passport fee

Please read carefully the strict requirements for the size and style of passport photographs in Passport Photograph Guidelines.

If you are qualified for the simpler renewal form (form PC7), it will not be necessary to have your photos endorsed by your guarantor or submit other supporting documentation to confirm proof of identity and citizenship in addition to the most recent passport.

Australians will not be able to use the PC7 form where:

There is any variation to the details in the most recent passport (such as a change of name),

To renew a passport for a minor under the age of 18 years,

Where the passport being replaced was issued to the applicant as a minor (under the age of 18 years).

Where the passport being replaced has been lost, stolen or damaged in any way.

In these instances, applicants will need to complete an Application for an Australian Passport Overseas Form (PC8). Please refer to the section for Full Application - Form PC8.
