Services for Australians
[ On-line Registration for Australians Overseas ]
All Australians travelling overseas, whatever the reasons and however long you'll be away, are encouraged to register with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade before travel. You can register on-line or in person at the Consulate-General. The information you provide will help us to contact you in an emergency - whether it is a natural disaster, civil disturbance or a family issue. It may also be used to pass other information to you such as updated Travel Advice and notice of elections. The information contained in the register is protected by the Privacy Act 1988 and can only be divulged under the provisions of that Act.
Information about risks overseas is contained in the Department's travel advisories. These and other travel tips to help you better prepare for your overseas trip can be found at smartraveller.gov.au. You can also subscribe to automatically receive email updates each time we change our travel advisories.
We encourage all Australians staying in or visiting Hong Kong or Macau to register with us. In order for consular officers to provide appropriate assistance to Australian citizens in the event of an emergency, it is necessary for those registered to ensure that their contact and other registered details are current. You can do this by completing another on-line registration form or advising us in writing of the changes to your details (please include your full name, passport number and daytime telephone number). Details can be forwarded by email (consular.hkng@dfat.gov.au), fax (2585 4461), or by mail (23/F Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong).
