Services for Australians
[ Passports - Photographs ]
Along with the introduction of the new "M" Series Passport, and the subsequent introduction later next year of biometric technology (including face recognition), new regulations relating to the type and size of photographs have also been introduced. Please read the instructions on the form carefully. If the photograph submitted does not meet the exact requirements, the application will be rejected and you will need to resubmit it again at a later date with new photographs.
It is especially important that children's photographs also conform to these strict requirements. We suggest for newborn babies not to take them to a photo shop, but to lay them on a plain coloured blanket or rug, stand over them and take the photo yourself. Have two prints of the photo developed and cut them down to size. The baby must have his or her eyes open and nothing must obstruct a full view of his or her face.
