Services for Australians

[ Our Aims, Your Rights and Obligations ]

Our Client Service Charter sets out the standard of service you can expect from the Passports Office staff at the Australian Consulate-General. Our aim is to provide high quality passports services to Australians living in, or visiting Hong Kong and Macau. Our role is to accept applications for new or replacement Passports in accordance with the provisions of The Passports Act 2005 and other relevant legislation or when it is warranted, issue an Emergency Passport.

The Passport's Charter of Service requires that an Australian Passport be issued, when all requirements of the Passports Act are met, in 10 Working Days. The turnaround time for an Emergency Passport will be on a case by case basis, but usually in no more than 48 hours.

Please note that the "Priority Processing Service" is not available for passport applications lodged in Hong Kong and Macau. The service is only available when applying in Australia, London or Washington.

We ask that you provide us with original documentation, proving your Australian Citizenship and identity - details of which are clearly explained on the Application Form - to fully complete the Application Form and to pay the necessary fee for the issue of a Passport. Full and accurate information will help us to provide you with a new or replacement Australian Passport within the above mentioned times.
